The Head of State meets President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev

February 14, 2020

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as part of his working visit to Munich.

The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, transport and logistics, energy, communications and agriculture. The parties noted that the signing of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea gave a new impetus to the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between neighboring countries. During the conversation they also discussed pressing issues of the regional and international agenda.

“Azerbaijan is the main partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region. The two countries have established fruitful cooperation and full mutual understanding in all spheres. The foundations of this cooperation were laid by our great predecessors, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Heydar Aliyev. Kazakhstan highly values its relations with Azerbaijan,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

Ilham Aliyev noted with satisfaction the progressive development of Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations and the steady growth of mutual trade turnover.

“Bilateral relations between our countries are developing at a high level. I am sure that our cooperation, based on the principles of brotherhood and friendship will continue to grow stronger,” Ilham Aliyev underscored.

Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.
